In 1982 NABARD has launched farmer clubs to help farmers which will unite and develop villages by giving loans to farmers and by updating them on latest technology and providing solutions at one go. As a part of this Shri P. Veerashankar, NABARD Assistant General Manager (district development) and S&T Siri VOLUNTARY ORGANIZATION has setup 85 farmer clubs (25 farmer clubs in 2010-11, 25 farmer clubs in 2011-12 and 35 in 2012-13 in the mandals of these villages of Nalgonda district namely Tirumalagiri, Thungathurthi, Arvapalli, Nutankal, Atmakur (S), Penapaadu, Suryapet, Muthkur, Gundala and Atmakur (M)).
By setting up these farmer clubs the famer groups can get direct access to scientists for better understanding of soil nutrients, water resources, adopting latest technologies in agriculture, information on new seeds and techniques for changing seeds. Farmer clubs are very much helpful in adopting latest technology in agriculture which will help them in improving their village and financial status. For the farmer club member base level orientation, direct access to scientist programme and FAM visits are helping them to develop leadership qualities.
